When I first read The Game back in 2010, I thought “how cool is it that these guys are writing about their experiences picking up girls and sharing insights into what does and doesn’t work.” Amazing what determined men can accomplished. These people checked their ego at the door and were honest about failure and rejection. They can take a woman’s eye roll and write about it. Nobody did that. Most people would never be able to admit they lack skill with women, much less even cold approach a girl. Ten years later, not much has changed. It takes a particular type of man to be honest about his experiences with girls, and to genuinely work on himself to get better with them.
Though I’ve followed Krauser and Torero for years, since 2016, it wasn’t until I found Nash’s blog in January 2019 that I really felt the value of doing something like this myself. But I couldn’t blog immediately; I had much to learn. And I had yet to seriously approach. It was in May 2019 that I finally got the nerve to go out and hit the streets of Boston with intent to open. The approach anxiety was crippling. It took a full month of roaming the city, weaseling out of sets, before I finally stopped a girl. I needed to see the anonymity of the city for myself. I needed to internalize the fact that I won’t be running into the same women day in and day out if I were to suddenly talk to them on the sidewalk. Worse yet, I didn’t want friends or coworkers to catch me suffering a blowout if I were to approach when they happen to be nearby.
I still remember that first approach in the summer of 2019. She was wearing those big, nerdy, Warby Parker-esque glasses. I followed her for 3 blocks after she walked passed me, just working up the nerve to open. Having Torero’s teases in memory–I studied before heading out–I finally managed to wheel around in front of her. Here’s how it went down:
Me: Hey, can I tell you something really quickly? I just saw you passing by and thought you looked nice. [big, goofy grin]
Her: Thank you!
Me: I like these big librarian glasses you have!
Her: Oh, thanks!
Me: Like you work in a library! [still with the big, goofy grin]
Her: Haha, no.
Me: Well you look like you do! [yet again, with the big, goofy grin]
Her: Ok, thanks. I gotta go, I’m meeting my boyfriend, actually. (Starts walking away)
Me: Wait. But you have nice glasses… [no more grin, though]
When she walked away, I could sense the confusion in her eyes. At the time, I was too naive to realize that it wasn’t so much confusion as it was pity for the bad approach. I was so naive, in fact, that I mistook her pity for interest in the sense that, had she not a boyfriend, she would have liked to continue chatting with me.
Four hundred approaches later, as I write this post, I pat the younger me on the back for his valiant effort.
So why haven’t I blogged before? Because I still have too much to learn. I’m working on my SMV. I’m lifting, I’m reading, I’m daygaming, I’m staying on top of work. And more recently, I’ve been communicating with fellow members of the daygame community. All of this is making me a better man, and there’s not time for much else. Will blogging contribute to my goals?
I certainly believe so. But, like all things, it’s about resource allocation. Spending time blogging means I have less time to read. And that reading list is mighty long. As it currently stands, here is the Game related reading list:
- The Sex God Method
- Bachelors Blueprint
- The Unchained Man
- My secret garden
- Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus
- Way of the Superior Man
- The Cube: Keep the Secret
- Practical Female Psychology
- Too Late, Mate? Alex Forrest
- The Evolution of Desire
- A Billion Wicked Thoughts
- Sex at Dawn
- She Comes First
- Demolition Lovers
- Krauser v1,2,3,4,5,6,7
- Daygame Mastery, Infinite (read again)
- More of Blackdragons work
- LaidNYC
- http://tellyoursonthis.com/
- Alabaster Girl
- Death by a Thousand Sluts
- Art of seduction
I’ve read plenty of books relevant to Game, including Mystery Method and The Rational Male, though the list inevitably grows faster than it shrinks. I learn more by reading than I do by writing, but this blog will serve as the outlet for those moments when inspiration strikes.
Thanks to Red Quest for giving me that last push to get this thing started. And thanks to Rivelino for inviting me to do a guest post on his blog. It was my debut post to the community. Check it out.
